2018 Blue Planet Prize Commemorative Lectures held (Tokyo/Kyoto)

The award recipients delivered commemorative lectures at the United Nations University in Tokyo on October 11 and Kyoto University on October 13 respectively.

In the first section, Prof. Brian Walker presented a lecture on the topic of "The Science and Practice of Resilience Thinking" which will be followed by a Q&A session moderated by Prof. Kanehiro Kitayama, Professor of Forest Ecology, Kyoto University.

In the second section, Prof. Malin Falkenmark presented a lecture on the topic of "Water - Bloodstream of the biosphere" (Tokyo), "Shift in water thinking - crucial for hunger alleviation in sub-Saharan Africa" (Kyoto) followed by a Q&A moderated by Prof. Taikan Oki, Senior Vice-Rector, United Nations University, Japan, Assistant Secretary-General, United Nations.
