Environmental Learning Support (ELS)

This program aims to deepen the understanding of global environmental issues, especially among the younger generation who will shape the future of our planet, and to support them in taking concrete actions to address these challenges.

Environmental Learning Support (ELS) Program

The ELS program implements "Global Environmental Issues Workshops for the Younger Generation" to support workshops and inquiry-based learning activities that focus on the accomplishments of Blue Planet Prize laureates. This program aims to broaden the investigative, research, and learning horizons of inquiry-based learning groups and to foster a deeper understanding of global environmental issues among the younger generation.

Messages from the Members of the ELS Committee and ELS Selection Committee

My Expectations for the Environmental Learning Support Program (ELSP)

Since its establishment in 1933, the Asahi Glass Foundation has strived to contribute to the creation of a society and civilization in which humanity can enjoy true prosperity. These efforts have been recognized not only in Japan but also internationally. To sustain and further advance these initiatives, it is essential to involve more people—especially promising individuals who are deeply committed to global environmental issues and poised to lead the next generation. The ELS program was established to support young people to expand their understanding of environmental challenges and take the initiative toward concrete solutions.

As inquiry-based learning becomes more established in Japanese schools, I look forward to seeing students' creativity blossom. I hope this program will help nurture that growth.

I hope this program will foster the next generation of environmental leaders and serve as a platform for developing innovative solutions to global environmental challenges.

Environmental destruction, including that caused by global warming, is becoming increasingly severe. Through this program, I hope the younger generation—who will shape the future—gain a deeper understanding of these issues and be inspired to take practical action toward solutions.
